About Derek
Derek Norman’s journey in law enforcement began right here in Monroe County, where he started his career at the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Passionate about his home county and dedicated to public service, Derek has accumulated over 18 years of extensive experience across various roles in law enforcement.
In pursuit of excellence and the best training, Derek worked for the Noble County Sheriff’s Office where he rose to the rank of Sergeant and later served as Chief Deputy. During his tenure, he was tasked with supervising the road division, worked as a detective for the Ohio Organized Crime Task Force, and spearheaded numerous initiatives that brought lasting improvements to the community.
In 2021, Derek returned to Monroe County, driven by his lifelong dream to lead as your Sheriff. As Administrative Lieutenant, he reintegrated into the community, reacquainting himself with the people and their needs.
